BOET NYARIRI

(1977 Mhondoro, Zimbabwe)

Boet was the winner of the sculpture category of the prestigious National Arts Merit Awards (NAMA) by the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe in both 2010 and 2012. This was a well-deserved, national recognition from Zimbabwe’s arts elite for one of the brightest stars in a new generation of talent.
As a young adult, Boet went to live with his grandfather and it was there he met sculptor Tinashe Makaza and began sculpting under his tutelage. Over the years his passion for sculpting in local stone grew and enabled him to create his own distinct style. Boet has worked with and been inspired by some of the most recognized names in Zimbabwean sculpture including: Dominic Benhura, Ignatius Zhuwakiyi and Garrison Machinjili. He has participated in many group exhibitions alongside these artists in countries like USA, Canada, Netherlands, Germany, United Kingdom, South Korea and South Africa.
