REMEMBER CHIKURUWO

(1989, Chivhu Zimbabwe)

Remember has a spiritual and creative personality. He grew up as the only boy in his family of five sisters and learned how to sculpt working as an apprentice for his father, artist Simoriro Chikuruwo. His father also owns a Leopard Rock mine, a valuable resource for his sculptures. He used to explore his rural surroundings of the mountainous landscapes and keenly observed wildlife. His abstracted Leopard Rock sculptures encapsulate the spiritual qualities within local animals and natural elements. He exhibits his work at Chitungwiza Arts Centre and he has participated in many local and international sculpture exhibitions in North America, Europe, Africa and Asia. He also likes to create functional art designing lighting and bowls.
