KENNEDY ZANO

(Zimbabwe)

Kennedy Zano has been sculpting for over twenty years. He works in several types of locally sourced stone including Verdite, Lemon Opal, Kwekwe Fruit Serpentine, Springstone and Cobalt. He often carves primates bonobos (also known as Pygmy Chimpanzees). He perfectly captures the subtle anatomical details of bonobos (longer legs, smaller ears and higher foreheads than chimpanzees) and has produced works for a large primate center in Des Moines, Iowa. His depiction of meerkat families is sympathetic yet quirky.
