WONDER GONDO NYIKADZINO

(1972, Gokwe District, Zimbabwe)

Initially, Wonder was a musician, playing guitar with a number of local groups while working in construction. His brother Tapiwa Jiri was a sculptor and his work inspired Wonder to learn how to sculpt. Working as an apprentice, Wonder learned how to sculpt and polish stone works. Wonder likes to experiment with various types of indigenous stones including Fruit Serpentine, Springstone, Green Opal, Cobalt, Butter Jade, Verdite and Dolomite. His work is featured at Chitungwiza Arts Centre and he has participated in various group exhibitions including at the National Arts Gallery of Zimbabwe.
